CHALLENGE
Ayala Land, Inc. aimed to neutralize emissions from its commercial properties by 2022 and was actively searching for additional carbon forests to offset their residual emissions. However, the process of identifying viable sites, at risk of deforestation and suitable for restoration, typically takes up to four years of research and assessment, making cost-effective on-the-ground feasibility studies challenging during the early stages of project planning.
SOLUTION
Thinking Machines built a cost-effective and data-driven web tool to streamline the site selection process for forest carbon offset projects. This solution aimed to identify high-potential locations and reduce costs and time associated with vetting sites for further on-the-ground assessment.
